Bridal Portraits #2

This morning I finally got the chance to head to the beach with my good friends Jill and Ian to do a second series in my set of Lukas VanDyke Fine Art bridal portraits. As I have mentioned before bridal portraits aren’t as big in Los Angeles as they are other places in country. I personally think they are something which every bride should consider. It’s a great chance to spend a little bit of extended time doing photos outside the stress of the wedding.

A few fun things which happened during this shoot.

1. Yesterday I bought a new Canon Mark IIn . This is a very expensive camera, and I took it in the ocean with me today. The amazing thing is I was soaked and other than a few splashes when I got hit in the back by waves the camera stayed pretty dry.
2. The overly helpful lifeguard was fun.
3. Ian’s commentary on the whole thing made me laugh a lot. Thanks for the humor Ian!

Sad things which happened

1. A wave took my Rainbow flip flops out to sea. Later we found one of them on a different beach. Having one back is even worse than them both being gone.
2. Although I was excited to head to the engagement photos I did right after, I was very sad to have to get out of the water.

I would love any feedback on these images as well as thoughts on bridal portraits. So feel free to leave comments.

Yeah -- amen -- these are incredible! Brave bride to get in the water with her dress too! that made for a sweet shot. Very unique. Love the distance shot as well.

sorry about the flip flops. Rainbow colored though? maybe it was the providence of God!? Oh Rainbow brand...I'm sorry bro! : )

Hey Lukas, as always these are absolutely beautiful. I love the one of Jill standing on the rock with the wave spread over it over under her feet. There is one thing though...Although they are great shots, the close up photos of jill sitting on the rock, the first few shots...there's just something disturbing to me about a soft white bride and big coarse rocks =) I love the ones where she's sitting in the sand or standing by the ocean, but it's just the ones where you can't see the ocean but just her and the rocks...i don't know what to think of that =) Love your work, love jill =) fun times

These are so beautiful- I love the one with the heart. The only thing I didn't like- and it's not like you could help it at all- is that in the water shots only one foot is sticking out from her dress, it kinda looks off somehow. But then again that might just be me. :-)

Did you end up ligting the dress on fire or anything? I really want to try it in photoshop, it keeps running around my brain.
