TMC Golf Tournament

Monday I did the photos for The Master’s College annual golf tournament. Every year the college puts together one or two tournaments to raise money. The other tournament is usually somewhere in the south. I know it was in Alabama one year because I remember visiting downtown Montgomery afterwards and doing some photos with my tripod at the capitol building late that night.

For me shooting golf tournaments is always a lot of fun because there is usually great food, I get to be out in the sun and drive around in a golf cart all day. And in the case of The Master’s College tournament I enjoy chit chatting with a lot of people I know who are playing. The downside is there isn’t a lot of creativity involved in lining four guys up in the grass and taking their photo. I thought of shaking things up a bit, but a lot of them have the same framing with the same image for the past 10 years in their office and I didn’t want to wreck their sequence. Besides, most of them are there to play golf not to be photographed. Maybe next year I will try something new, but probably not.

I few things I enjoyed about the day were.

#1 There were a lot less cheesy camera jokes then usual. Things like “Be careful I might break your lens!” or “talk to my agent about my model release”. There were a good number of them, but it felt like less than usual.
#2 Breakfast
#3 Lunch
#4 Being in the sun all day.
#5 Dinner.
#6 I was sitting next to Rick Holland for dinner and a waitress came up and asked if he wanted some coffee. Rick doesn’t drink coffee but his reply was “No, I think I am fine but THANK YOU so much for asking!” It was just a little act of consideration to make that person feel special. But it impressed me as something I want to do more often.

Some of these images are kind of random but

I've really enjoyed reading your posts and scoping through most of the photo albums on your site! I never knew you were so good at writing...and it's been very encouraging to hear and see what's the Lord is doing in your every-day life...
